The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is launching an innovative project for teaching the subject “Defense of Ukraine”

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MoES) has announced the launch of a new educational project focused on the “Theoretical and Methodological Foundations for Teaching the Subject/Integrated Course ‘Defense of Ukraine’.” This project aims to ensure high-quality instruction of the updated subject according to the State Standard of Profile Secondary Education starting from this academic year.

Creation of Educational Centers

Starting September 1, Ukraine will begin teaching the subject “Defense of Ukraine” in specially created centers, with approximately 1,200 planned across the country. These centers will bring together students from multiple educational institutions, ensuring a high level of preparation and effective knowledge acquisition. Information about the process of establishing such centers can be found via the provided link.

Optimization of Learning Conditions

MoES is also continuing to work on creating optimal conditions for studying the subject “Defense of Ukraine.” A decree is being prepared to divide classes into groups, which will allow for more effective material absorption and practical skill development. The document has already undergone public consultation, and MoES has taken into account the feedback and suggestions received. The next steps involve approval and publication of the decree.

New Model Curriculum

The introduction of the Model Curriculum is a significant step towards adapting education to modern realities and enhancing youth readiness for national defense. The centers will provide opportunities to improve student preparation by offering access to modern teaching methods and innovative equipment.

This year, changes will be implemented in grades 10 and 11, where the subject “Defense of Ukraine” will be taught according to the new curriculum. Bringing together students from different educational institutions into a single center will enhance the quality of education and ensure a unified standard of preparation across all regions of the country.

We have previously reported that the government continues to provide state assistance payments for the most vulnerable categories of internally displaced persons.
