Mykola Shumyk, deputy director of the Hryshko National Botanical Garden, denied the information about the transfer of the garden’s land for residential development, calling it ‘information throw-in’. Shumyk said on Suspilne TV that not a single square metre of the territory has been built up and is not planned for residential use.

In 2018, the land plot of the botanical garden at 1 Sadovo-Botanichna Street was indeed the subject of an investment agreement with a developer. However, according to Shumyk, it was only about overhauling and improving the economic zone, where the administrative building, outbuildings, and a dormitory for employees are located.
‘We have included major repairs, not residential development, in this project for the organisation of the territories,’ Shumyk said. He also added that the agreement could have been terminated or expired, as no construction activities have been carried out since 2018.
