Assistance for vulnerable families
As part of this initiative, Ukrainian families are receiving financial support in the amount of 21,800 UAH. This aid is intended for those families most in need, particularly for ensuring heating during the winter period. The payments are aimed at alleviating the hardships of winter, which can be especially difficult for those living in areas affected by constant shelling and unstable infrastructure.
Who is eligible for assistance?
Assistance is provided to families living in settlements located within 30 kilometers of the frontline. These include communities in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia regions. These areas are among the most vulnerable to shelling and military actions, making support for families there crucial.
As of today, more than 68,000 people, including approximately 30,000 children, have already received financial assistance. The UNICEF program aims to reach up to 100,000 residents of frontline areas during the 2024/2025 winter period.
Future plans
The financial assistance program is part of a broader range of support that UNICEF is providing to Ukraine amid the ongoing war. This is one of the steps taken to ensure safety and decent living conditions for the most vulnerable populations, particularly families with children. The program not only offers financial resources but also aims to support the emotional well-being of people who have been displaced by the war or are living in constant danger.
Conclusion
The winter period for residents of frontline areas has always been challenging, but the situation has become even more difficult since the war began. UNICEF, along with other international organizations, continues to work to help Ukrainians overcome the consequences of the war and ensure basic living conditions during these difficult times. Through initiatives like this, families with children can feel a little safer amid the ongoing threat and receive the financial support they need to survive the harsh winter.
