Changes in subsidy provision and support for energy independence

One of the main initiatives is to support the energy independence of households. Specifically, if energy equipment is installed in a household to maintain energy independence, and its cost does not exceed UAH 150,000, the family will retain the right to receive housing subsidies. This allows citizens to implement alternative energy sources, such as solar panels or generators, without losing financial support from the government.

Additionally, under the new initiatives, even in the case of electricity supply interruptions, the subsidy amount for electricity payment will not be reduced. This will help Ukrainian families, especially in the context of frequent power outages, to maintain stable utility costs.

Winter support programs for 2024-2025

The government of Ukraine has already launched a large-scale winter support program for citizens, particularly for those most affected by the consequences of the war and the economic crisis.

  • 2.8 million Ukrainian families will receive housing subsidies and heating benefits. Over UAH 42 billion has been allocated in the state budget for these needs.
  • Military personnel will benefit from a simplified mechanism for the assignment of housing and utility benefits, making it easier for them to access subsidies.
  • For internally displaced persons (IDPs), a rental housing subsidy program will be launched in mid-January 2025, significantly easing the situation for people who were forced to leave their homes.
  • Additionally, about 500,000 households that heat their homes with firewood or coal will receive additional financial assistance to purchase these resources.

The Ministry of Social Policy continues to work on ensuring energy security and social support for Ukrainian citizens who are facing difficult conditions due to the war, economic challenges, and the need for energy supply. The winter support programs, subsidies, and benefits will help Ukrainians effectively get through the winter and provide the necessary living conditions for their families.

These initiatives are an important step toward ensuring social justice and supporting citizens, particularly those who have suffered the consequences of war, during this difficult time.
