Unicef will allocate over 203 million hryvnias for the preparation of Ukrainian schools for the winter period. These funds will be directed to 700 general secondary education institutions, 550 of which are located in frontline areas. Each school will receive 290,500 hryvnias.

Patronage of the first lady
The initiative is being implemented under the patronage of the First Lady, Olena Zelenska. The project is the result of collaboration between Unicef, the Ministry of Reintegration, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Office of the President of Ukraine. The funding is provided by the Government of Germany through the German Development Bank (KfW).
Investment in infrastructure improvement
The funds will be used for insulating schools, installing heating equipment, replacing windows and doors, repairing engineering networks, purchasing fuel, and modernizing kitchens.
Distribution of funds
The distribution of funding has been organized into three categories:
- Schools in frontline and border areas with shelters, where at least 200 children are enrolled.
- Schools with shelters that accommodate at least 50 internally displaced children.
- The only institutions in their communities that operate in-person.
