Ukrainians in Occupied Territories Honored Fallen Defenders

On August 29, Ukraine observes the Day of Remembrance for Fallen Defenders, honoring the military personnel who gave their lives for the country’s independence. This year, the commemoration also included Ukrainians living in temporarily occupied territories.

According to the “Yellow Ribbon” initiative, symbolic events took place in cities such as Berdyansk, Luhansk, Mariupol, Melitopol, Sevastopol, Donetsk, and others. Local residents paid tribute to Ukraine’s defenders and took photos with inscriptions, including the message: “Heroes live in our hearts, in our future victory!”

These events demonstrate that even under occupation, Ukrainians continue to preserve national memory and uphold the spirit of resistance, honoring those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom.
