Embassies in Kyiv fly flags at half-mast in memory of the victims

On July 31, Kyiv paid tribute to the victims of Russia’s massive missile attack that killed at least 31 people. On the Day of Mourning, diplomatic missions of many countries flew their flags at half-mast in solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

Foreign embassies posted messages on their social media pages about their participation in the national day of mourning. In particular, the Italian Embassy in Kyiv posted a photo of the flags of Italy and the European Union at half-mast, expressing condolences and condemning Russian violence. The EU Delegation published the words of High Representative Kaja Kallas, who emphasized the need to urgently strengthen military support for Ukraine, in particular by providing additional air defense systems.

The NATO mission, as well as the embassies of the United Kingdom, Poland, Estonia, France, Germany, and Sweden, also confirmed their participation in the mourning. The diplomats called the attack on Kyiv barbaric and emphasized their support for Ukraine.

As a reminder, at least 159 people were injured and 31 people were killed in the combined missile attack on the night of July 31. A day of mourning has been declared in the city.
