Ukraine is continuing its campaign to register young men who turn 17 this year for military service. According to current legislation, all male citizens of this age must register for military service by 31 July. This was reported by the Chernihiv Regional Territorial Centre for Recruitment and Social Support.
The agency emphasises that this procedure does not mean conscription into military service. Its purpose is to determine human potential, establish the educational level and personal qualities of citizens. Information about young men who are registered is entered into the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Military Service Obligors and Reservists.
The procedure can be completed in two ways: through the conscript’s electronic office, where personal data is verified and electronic identification is carried out, or by visiting the district or city TCC and SP in person. During a personal visit, it is necessary to submit documents, including a Ukrainian passport, birth certificate, proof of residence, education document and four photographs. Internally displaced persons need a certificate of registration as an IDP.
Those who are serving sentences in penal institutions or who are subject to compulsory medical measures are not subject to registration.
It is important to remember that the law signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy requires citizens to register for military service between 1 January and 31 July 2025. If this deadline is missed, the citizen must appear in person at the TCC and may be fined between 17,000 and 25,000 hryvnias.
