The admission campaign for master’s programmes is underway in Ukraine, and applicants must submit their applications on a competitive basis. To apply for a state-funded or contract-based place, it is necessary to correctly calculate the competitive score, which takes into account the results of the entrance exams. This is reported on the Education.ua portal.
The formula for the competitive score is as follows: CS = 0.2 × P1 + 0.2 × P2 + 0.6 × P3.
In it, P1 is the score for the general academic competence test (TZNK) on the EIT, P2 is the score for the foreign language test on the EIT, and P3 is the result of the EIT, EIT or professional exam, depending on the speciality. If the applicant took the EDPI, their score on a scale of 200–400 must be converted to a format of 100–200 using a special formula. For example, for the speciality ‘Cybersecurity and Information Protection’, the result is multiplied by 0.5, and for transport and technical fields — by 0.625 with a reduction of 25 points.
In the case of admission based on a foreign language interview, its result replaces both components of the EIT and is taken into account with a coefficient of 0.4. For foreigners, the entrance exam score is equal to the competitive score. If, after calculation, the score exceeds 200, it is automatically equated to 200.
The formula for master’s programmes does not include regional and industry coefficients, which are applied when applying for bachelor’s programmes. The threshold for participation in the competition is 100 rating points. To achieve this, you need to obtain at least 5 test points out of a possible 30 for a foreign language and at least 5 out of 33 for TZNK. In the EIT, the minimum threshold score is 35 out of 140. To be eligible for a budget place, the competitive score must be 130 or higher.
For example, an applicant who is applying for the Economics programme and has received 175 points for each component of the EIT and 180 points for the EIT will have a competitive score of 0.2×175 + 0.2×175 + 0.6×180 = 178.
A motivation letter must be attached to each application.
