The government made the decision as part of the optimisation of the system of central executive bodies. While the merger process is underway, the Ministry of Nationality will continue to perform its functions, but upon completion of the reorganisation, all of its powers, functions and property will be transferred to the newly created ministry.
The government also approved a new Regulation on the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, recognising the previous 2015 regulation as invalid.
The updated ministry was also given the relevant budget allocations for 2025, including
- UAH 83 million – for the implementation of programmes for the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories;
- more than UAH 56 million to inform the public about explosive devices and ensure information sovereignty in the temporarily occupied territories;
- over UAH 150 million to support Ukrainians abroad and facilitate their return to Ukraine;
- and more than UAH 24 thousand for management and administration in the field of social policy.
The decision is another step towards consolidating functions related to social protection, integration of citizens and support for the unity of the country.
