Evacuation continues in more than 200 settlements in Sumy region. All because of Russian shelling

The evacuation of residents of border areas in Sumy region, who are under daily threat of Russian shelling, continues. According to local authorities, evacuation measures already cover 213 settlements in 18 communities in the region.

Over the past week, 150 people, including 25 children, have left dangerous areas. At the same time, shelling by the Russian army continues, targeting residential buildings, civilian infrastructure and social facilities.

According to the Regional Military Administration, dozens of attacks are recorded daily along the border. In particular, in the first half of 2025, more than 2,000 cases of shelling and attacks by the Russian Federation were recorded in Sumy region. Communities near the state border suffer the most, where the enemy regularly uses artillery, mortars and drones.

The authorities emphasise that evacuation remains a necessary but vital step. Comprehensive support is provided to anyone who decides to leave dangerous settlements. People are transported to safe regions where they can turn to transit centres.

There, they can receive assistance with applying for state and international payments, humanitarian, medical and psychological support, as well as options for further resettlement.

Free evacuation flights have also been organised for residents of border communities. In particular, weekly train No. 45 runs on the Sumy-Uzhhorod route. Registration for evacuation is available by phone: 068 937 0000.
