The Kyiv city authorities have declared Wednesday, 18 June, a day of mourning for the victims of one of the largest shelling of the capital in recent months. At least three people were killed and 114 others were injured as a result of the missile attack on Kyiv’s residential infrastructure. The Darnytskyi and Solomianskyi districts suffered the most damage, and rescue and search operations are underway.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the decision to hold mourning events. According to him, flags at all municipal institutions in the capital will be flown at half-mast on 18 June in memory of the victims.
According to the decision of the city authorities, it is forbidden to hold any entertainment events on this day, both in public and indoors. The restrictions are in place to honour the memory of the victims and in view of the difficult humanitarian situation in the affected areas.
