An all-Ukrainian social change campaign called “Barrier-Free is When You Can” has been launched in Ukraine. The initiative aims to promote the idea of barrier-free access and engage citizens in creating an inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities.
The campaign is being implemented as part of the National Strategy for Creating Barrier-Free Space and the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska “No Barriers”. Key ministries have joined the project, including the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Ministry of Digital Transformation. The campaign is being implemented in cooperation with UNICEF and with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through KfW Development Bank.

As part of the campaign, the flagship project “Information without Barriers” was presented by Mykola Tochytskyi, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine. The project aims to ensure the accessibility of socially important information for all citizens, including people with disabilities, children, foreigners and other social groups.
According to Mykola Tochytskyi, new approaches to state communication should change not only the language of official messages, but also the general style of communication with citizens. The minister stressed that the introduction of accessible information promotes respect for every person and should become an integral part of public space.
