Three Ukrainian research institutions have been included in the prestigious World University Rankings 2025 by The Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR). In total, the list includes two thousand higher education institutions from around the world.
The Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology were ranked in the second half of the ranking, which is a significant achievement in the context of global competition.
The highest position among Ukrainian institutions was taken by the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – 1262nd place. This is followed by the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (1535th place) and the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology (1543rd place).
The leaders of the CWUR 2025 ranking are traditionally strong American universities. Harvard University took the first place, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University took the third position. The top five also includes Cambridge and Oxford universities from the UK.
The Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR) evaluates educational institutions based on several criteria, including the quality of education, graduate employability, teaching quality and research achievements. Being included in the ranking demonstrates the international recognition and research potential of Ukrainian institutions, despite the difficult military circumstances.
