Educational bridge with home: MES launches platform for children abroad

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has introduced a new platform for registering for the Ukrainian studies programme. The initiative is aimed at children who temporarily reside outside the country and study remotely in Ukrainian schools. The platform simplifies the enrolment procedure and allows them to maintain educational ties with Ukraine without a double workload.

Thanks to the new online service, parents can choose a school that offers a shortened Ukrainian studies programme and apply for enrolment. Registration is carried out through the website ukrainian.studies.mon.gov.ua, and authorisation is done through the id.gov.ua service. After submitting the application, the school must respond within five business days.

According to Nadiya Kuzmychova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, more than 360,000 Ukrainian children are currently abroad but continue their studies in Ukrainian schools remotely. The introduction of the Ukrainian studies component allows them to combine local and Ukrainian education without excessive workload, while maintaining a connection with the culture and history of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian studies component covers the study of the Ukrainian language, literature, history, geography, law and the subject of Defence of Ukraine. Other subjects that a child learns in a local school can be transferred to the Ukrainian curriculum.
