A grant competition has been launched in the communities of Sumy and Dnipro regions to help implement clean energy projects. The initiative is part of the project “Support for Winterization and Renewable Energy at the Local Level in Ukraine”, implemented by the Czech humanitarian organisation People in Need in partnership with Ukrainian NGOs Ecodia and Ecoclub with financial support from the European Commission.

The competition aims to strengthen the energy security of communities, restore district heating systems and introduce renewable energy sources in the regions affected by the conflict. Applications can be submitted by officially registered NGOs or initiative groups with a memorandum. The geography of the competition covers Shostka, Romny and Putivl communities in Sumy Oblast, as well as Zelenodolsk, Apostolivka and Kryvyi Rih communities in Dnipro Oblast.
The maximum amount of one grant is UAH 225 thousand. The project implementation period is from 15 August to 30 November 2025. The application deadline is 22 June 2025, and one organisation can submit only one initiative. An online form is provided, which includes a narrative part and a budget.
Registration for an information session for those who have questions about the competition is open until 2 June. Contact support is available until 20 June for each region separately. All the details, including the budget form and the competition regulations, are available online.
