The new Law of Ukraine ‘On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Physical Culture and Sports” on Adaptive Sports’ defines adaptive sports as an independent area and establishes a framework for its systemic development. According to the document, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will coordinate activities in this area, while at the local level, responsibility for the development of adaptive sports lies with executive authorities and self-government bodies.
The law also defines the roles of organisers and performers of events and sports federations involved in the implementation of state policy. The goal is to create conditions in which adaptive sports will contribute not only to physical recovery but also to mental rehabilitation and social integration of people with disabilities.
