Vaccination schedule to be changed in Ukraine from 2026

The Ministry of Health has announced that it plans to change the preventive vaccination schedule starting in 2026. The main change concerns the introduction of a one-time free vaccination against HPV (human papillomavirus) for girls aged 12-13.

The vaccine against hepatitis B virus is proposed to be administered at 2-4-6-18 months. This schedule will allow the use of modern combined vaccines against several infectious diseases at the same time. This will reduce the number of injections for a child and the number of visits to a healthcare facility.

Vaccinations against measles, mumps and rubella are proposed to be administered at the age of 1 and 4. This will protect children at an earlier age. Currently, they are vaccinated at 1 and 6 years of age.

BCG vaccination – against tuberculosis – is proposed to be given 24 hours after birth. Currently, this vaccination is given on the 3-5th day of life.
