UN launches grant support for clean tech start-ups

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with the support of the Global Environment Facility and Greencubator, is launching the second phase of the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) in Ukraine. This programme provides grants for Ukrainian companies working on climate-friendly technologies and reducing CO₂ emissions.

The GCIP project covers 17 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. In Ukraine, it will last until the end of 2027. The second phase of the project is being implemented at the national level by the NGO Greencubator, a Ukrainian platform for supporting green innovations that has been developing the sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystem in Ukraine for 16 years through international training and grant programmes.

‘There are three components that are crucial for Ukraine’s sustainable recovery: human capital, financing and regulation. GCIP Ukraine 2.0 aims to activate human capital and empower Ukrainian green SMEs despite the war, helping them to raise funds domestically and internationally,’ said Roman Zinchenko, co-founder of the NGO GreenCubator.

GCIP Ukraine 2.0 provides a three-month acceleration programme with business training, mentoring and post-acceleration support under the guidance of cleantech experts. For more information about GCIP Ukraine 2.0 and the selection criteria, please follow the link.
