The Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine has announced a new package of financial support for Ukraine, including from the governments of Sweden and Germany, worth €44 million. This assistance will be used to support civil society in Ukraine.
Of this amount, €6 million will be used to support women, ensure gender equality, and combat domestic and gender-based violence.
‘According to UN Women, violence against women, including domestic, sexual and gender-based violence, has increased by 38% due to the war. We believe this is an incomplete figure, as many women are still not ready to talk about it. That is why the development of gender equality, women’s leadership, and combating violence against women is one of the funding priorities,’ said Katarina Mathernova, Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the European Union has allocated more than €150 million to support non-governmental organisations, public associations and civil society organisations.
