The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued Resolution No. 252 dated 7 March 2025, which provides for the payment of monetary compensation for rental housing to persons who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The compensation will be available to former servicemen, police officers and civil defence personnel who rent accommodation and meet certain criteria. In particular, assistance will be provided to those who lost their homes due to hostilities, own property in the temporarily occupied territories or are undergoing rehabilitation far from their place of registration.
The amount of compensation depends on the location of the property:
- Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa — UAH 6,056 (2 subsistence minimums),
- Regional centres — UAH 4,542 (1.5 subsistence minimum),
- Other settlements — UAH 3,028 (1 subsistence minimum).
Payments will be provided for up to six months. The application can be submitted in paper or electronic form through the relevant veteran policy unit at the place of residence or actual stay.
