Government simplifies payments of assistance to families of killed and injured volunteers

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution that greatly simplifies the procedure for receiving a one-off financial assistance (OFA) in the event of a volunteer’s death or disability. The payments apply to persons who have been wounded, contused, injured or maimed while assisting the security and defence forces of Ukraine.

Previously, this procedure consisted of two stages: first, applicants applied to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs for a decision on payment, and then submitted a separate application to the relevant structural unit to receive the funds. From now on, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs will make payments directly, and the applicant will immediately provide bank account details in the first application. This significantly reduces the time it takes to process applications and receive benefits.

Documents can be submitted in several ways: through Administrative Service Centres (ASCs) regardless of the place of registration, as well as by post or email directly to the Ministry of Veterans. In addition, the government has approved new application forms and clarified the list of required documents, which will make the process of applying for benefits easier and more convenient.

The changes are aimed at increasing the effectiveness of state support for the families of killed and injured volunteers and reducing bureaucratic barriers for recipients.
