Ukrainian migrants replenished Poland’s budget by PLN 15.1 billion in 2024

In 2024, Ukrainians living and working in Poland paid PLN 15.1 billion to the state budget in taxes and social contributions. This is 5.4 times more than the amount they received under the state family support programme ‘Family 800+’. These data are contained in a report by the Polish bank BGK published by PAP Biznes.

According to the study, the main revenues from Ukrainians to the Polish budget consisted of income tax, social contributions and VAT. At the same time, the total amount of payments to Ukrainian families under the 800+ programme was PLN 2.8 billion. Economists emphasise that these figures confirm the significant financial contribution of Ukrainian migrants to the Polish economy.

The analysis also shows that Polish citizens receiving social benefits return an average of PLN 6 to the budget for every PLN received. This underlines the important role of foreign workers in maintaining the country’s financial stability.

Earlier it was reported that Poland and Ukraine are stepping up cooperation in the defence sector, planning joint military investments and arms supplies. In addition, the Polish authorities have started implementing new migrant verification measures to clarify the real number of Ukrainian refugees in the country and avoid inflated statistics.

The financial contribution of Ukrainians in Poland remains one of the key factors influencing the country’s economy, as well as its social and demographic policies.
