Spain extends temporary protection cards for Ukrainians until 2026

The Spanish government has decided to extend the validity of foreigner cards for Ukrainian citizens who have been granted temporary protection due to Russian aggression. These documents will now remain valid until 4 March 2026.

Importantly, Ukrainians do not need to apply for new certificates or change their existing cards – they will be automatically valid for the entire extended period. This decision will provide stability and legal certainty for Ukrainian citizens who were forced to leave their country due to the war and are now living in Spain.

Previously, other European countries have made similar decisions. For example, Germany and France also extended the temporary protection status for Ukrainians. In addition, some EU countries are simplifying access to the labour market for refugees to facilitate their integration.
