The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a large-scale initiative to clear rubble and debris in Ukraine. The project covers eight oblasts, including Kyiv, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson, and the cities of Sumy and Kharkiv. The work involves clearing destroyed residential buildings, schools, hospitals and other infrastructure.

The main goal of the initiative is to improve the safety of local residents and accelerate the restoration of critical facilities. Preparatory work is already underway: experts have surveyed more than 260 sites for mines and explosive ordnance to minimise risks to workers and the public. In addition, 48 specialists have undergone safety training covering work with asbestos and ERW.
To ensure the effective execution of the work, all involved workers receive comprehensive training aimed at reducing risks during debris removal. UNDP emphasises that safety remains a priority at all stages of the initiative.
