SES rescuers eliminate smouldering at ChNPP

As of 13:00 on 24 February, rescuers of the State Emergency Service are working to eliminate smouldering areas on the territory of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Rescuers are partially opening the structures, while constant aerial monitoring using drones with thermal imagers helps to control the situation.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the radiation level at the facility does not exceed the benchmarks and there is no threat to the public. Real-time monitoring of the radiation background is available on the official EcoThreat website.

The Chornobyl Exclusion Zone remains under close control of experts, and the measures taken are aimed at preventing possible risks.
