The initiative is part of the international project ‘Ukrainian Bookshelf’, implemented under the patronage of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. It aims to promote Ukrainian books among children and adults living abroad. More than 250 such shelves have already been opened around the world as part of this programme.
The books for Ukrainian children in Hungary were donated by the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine as part of the ‘Ukrainian Books for Ukrainian Children’ campaign. The largest ‘Ukrainian Bookshelf’ in Budapest is located in the Szabo Ervin Metropolitan Library, where Ukrainians can sign up for a free subscription.
