The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has presented a new electronic system, E-Beekeeping. Its first stage involves the launch of an early warning service for the use of plant protection products. This will help beekeepers avoid bee poisoning and improve the organisation of controlled bee pollination.

With the new service, farmers will be able to keep a log of land treatment with plant protection products, apply for beekeepers to locate apiaries, select suitable partners, determine the period and locations of planned plant treatment. They will also automatically inform beekeepers within a radius of 8 kilometres from the treated areas.
Beekeepers, in turn, will be able to integrate their data with the State Agrarian Register (SAR), set the geolocation of apiaries, send feedback to farmers’ applications, submit their own requests for cooperation. They will also be able to specify the type of crops grown and the relevant plots.
The E-Beekeeping service is fully integrated with other electronic registers, including the apiary and pesticide registers. This will help reduce bee deaths from uncontrolled use of chemicals in agriculture and increase the efficiency of crop pollination.
