Ukrainians in Spain under temporary protection due to the war in Ukraine will be able to use their foreigner cards until 4 March 2026. This decision was made by the Spanish government as part of the renewal of the policy of protection of Ukrainian citizens who were forced to leave the country due to the Russian invasion.

The extension of the validity of the certificates does not require any additional actions on the part of Ukrainian refugees. They do not need to update or re-issue their documents – their current foreigner cards remain valid for the entire period defined by the new decision.
This decision is based on a pan-European approach to the protection of Ukrainians, including the EU’s decision to extend temporary protection. In Spain, it ensures that Ukrainian citizens can maintain access to social and healthcare services, education and the labour market without having to re-apply.
Ukrainians can check their status and get more information at local immigration offices or on official government platforms.
