The Center for Public Health of Ukraine has launched a new free online course ‘HIV Prevention among Key Populations’. It is aimed at public health professionals, social workers and activists who interact with people most at risk of HIV infection. The programme is posted on the educational platform of the CPH and is available after a simple registration.

The course consists of video lectures and accompanying surveys. It covers modern approaches to HIV prevention, including work with vulnerable groups, as well as effective strategies to reduce risky behaviour. The authors of the programme emphasise the importance of timely diagnosis and access to prevention services.
According to the Public Health Centre, almost 50% of people living with HIV in Ukraine are unaware of their status. This situation contributes to the further spread of the infection, especially among key populations. These include, in particular, partners of HIV-positive people, people who inject drugs, men who have sex with men, sex workers, people in detention or released from prison, and transgender people and their partners.
Prevention among these groups is critical to containing the epidemic. The online course is designed to raise awareness among professionals and help them better respond to HIV-related challenges. It is part of a broader public health effort to reduce harm, prevent the transmission of blood-borne infections, and improve the quality of life for people at high risk of infection.
