To determine the next steps for the restoration of these buildings, Ohmatdyt has set up a commission with representatives of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Kyiv City State Administration and the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications. In accordance with Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1342, which regulates the examination of monuments affected by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. The commission recommended that emergency and conservation work be carried out first, and then scientific and design documentation for the restoration and adaptation of the buildings be developed.
According to the commission’s findings, building No. 3 is in a state of emergency and has suffered significant damage. After the urgent measures are taken, the contractor must submit a report on the work performed to the cultural heritage protection authority. After that, preparations for restoration will begin.

Inna Ivanenko, Chairman of the Okhmatdyt Restoration Council, noted that the current priority is to rebuild a modern medical and diagnostic building that will accommodate the departments from the affected buildings. Restoring historic buildings requires a special procedure and is a much longer and more expensive process. However, the hospital emphasises that the buildings with 130 years of history will definitely be preserved and restored.
Okhmatdyt’s acting CEO Oleksandr Urin stressed that it is important not only to restore the buildings but also to determine their functions before the restoration begins. This decision will be made collectively. So far, the buildings have been inspected, project documentation for the conservation work has been developed, and a positive expert opinion has been received.
In the near future, Okhmatdyt will announce a tender for the protection of building No. 3 from external influences. The expected completion date is two months and the cost is UAH 5.5 million. The emergency measures will be financed with funds raised as part of a joint fundraising campaign by the UNITED24 fundraising platform and monobank.
