As part of the programme, veterans who have signed a declaration with their family doctor will be able to receive additional examinations, treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, rehabilitation after injuries and extended psychological support. The main beneficiaries of the services will be combatants and people with war-related disabilities.
According to Nataliia Kalmykova, Minister of Veterans Affairs, this project is an important step towards high-quality medical support for Ukraine’s defenders. She emphasised the need for disease prevention and timely diagnosis to help avoid complications and ensure effective health recovery for veterans.
The services will be provided in medical institutions that will sign an agreement with the National Health Service of Ukraine. These can include state and municipal hospitals, as well as private clinics and licensed private practitioners.
The programme is scheduled to start in early March. Veterans can visit their family doctors, sign a declaration and apply for services. Additional explanations on the project’s mechanisms will be provided in the near future.
