The plant, which started operating in April 2024, has processed more than 75,000 cubic metres of waste in a short time after regaining control of the territory. This made it possible to clean up an area of almost 4 hectares, which is equal to seven football fields. About 30% of the recycled materials were used to build roads in the community, which significantly reduced the cost of infrastructure projects.

The plant’s performance has attracted the attention of experts and government representatives. The facility was recently visited by representatives of the World Bank and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, who noted the significance of this experience. Every month, the Hromada hosts delegations from different parts of Ukraine who want to adopt the innovative approach.

The UNDP team is currently working on adapting this project to other regions of Ukraine to spread the model of sustainable waste management and support the country’s environmental recovery.
