78% of Ukrainians use the Internet every day

In 2024, 78% of Ukrainians use the Internet every day, demonstrating a stable level of digital activity compared to the previous year. These are the findings of an analytical report prepared by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology at the request of the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine.

The study shows that another 12% of citizens use the Internet irregularly, i.e. only a few hours a week or less. At the same time, 10% of respondents do not use the Internet at all. The main factors that influence access to the network are age, income level and place of residence.

Young people under 30 are the most active user group: 94% of respondents of this age spend at least three hours online every day. At the same time, among Ukrainians aged 70 and older, only 42% use the Internet regularly, while 38% do not have access to the Internet at all.

Respondents with low incomes deserve special attention: only 69% of them use the Internet on a daily basis. In rural areas, the share of regular users decreased from 74% in 2023 to 67% in 2024, partly due to a lack of access to quality internet and low digital skills.

The survey also highlights that older people are much less likely to be digitally literate, which remains an important barrier to accessing online services. For example, among people over 60, 44% are not interested in developing their digital skills at all.

The analytical report is part of a long-term project by UNDP in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. The findings of the study allow us to improve digital services and make them accessible to all categories of the population.
