The National Commission for the State Regulation of Electronic Communications (NCCIR) has decided to grant a free of charge permission to use the shortened number “1678” for the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. This will allow Ukrainians to quickly contact the Ombudsman’s hotline to protect their rights and freedoms.
Main functions of the Ombudsman’s hotline
The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Hotline aims to provide citizens with access to assistance in the following areas
Protection of rights and freedoms: The line provides an opportunity to seek assistance in case of violation of rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine, laws of the country and international treaties.
Prevention of violations: The Ombudsman helps to prevent violations of human rights and freedoms and helps to restore them in case of violation.
Prevention of discrimination: The line also helps to protect the rights of citizens against discrimination and promotes equal opportunities for all.
Legal awareness: One of the important functions is to raise legal awareness among the population and provide advice on legal issues.
Protection of confidential information: All calls to the hotline are handled in compliance with high standards of confidentiality and personal data protection.

How does it work?
The number “1678” is available for connection to the call centers of the Ombudsman’s Secretariat of Ukraine, operating via fixed and mobile communication networks. This allows citizens to contact the Ombudsman’s Office from different parts of Ukraine for help, advice or to resolve issues related to the protection of their rights and freedoms.
