The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance held a meeting dedicated to reforming the pharmaceutical market, access to medicines and the safety of healthcare professionals. The main topics discussed were the reduction of prices for medicines, the introduction of transparent rules for pharmacy activities, and the improvement of the level of protection of healthcare professionals.

Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko presented proposals to regulate drug prices through Prozoro Market, ban retro bonuses and establish European integration standards for pharmacy activities. The Committee also discussed the introduction of new standards for pharmacy chains. The Committee supported proposals for legislative initiatives to ensure the availability of quality medicines for every patient.
The meeting also considered draft law No. 11527, which aims to modernise the training of healthcare professionals. The Committee recommended adopting this draft law in the second reading.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of medical safety. At the initiative of the Committee’s Chairman, Mykhailo Radutskyi, the MPs supported an appeal to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada to speed up the consideration of Draft Law 10221. This document provides for criminal liability for violence against healthcare workers, which is critical in the context of the growing number of attacks on them during the war.
