‘Today, we are seeing an increase in the state order, but this year we failed to fill all the places under its quota by 100%,’ Lyashko said.
The Minister also announced a pilot project at Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University. The initiative will introduce new approaches to medical education. In particular, students and teachers of LNMU will be actively involved in the provision of medical care, which should not only improve the training of personnel but also increase the interest of applicants in choosing medical specialties.
The situation with the shortage of students for medical universities has become particularly relevant amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which has revealed a significant staff shortage in the healthcare sector. Experts point out the importance of not only raising the prestige of the profession, but also creating more favourable conditions for graduates’ education and employment.
