Ukrainians maintain a positive attitude towards refugees despite the difficulties caused by the war. The majority of citizens support the return of those who were forced to leave the country due to Russia’s full-scale invasion. This is evidenced by the results of a new survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

The study showed that 87% of respondents are tolerant of refugees. Of these, 47% expressed a completely positive attitude, and another 40% are ready to accept the migrants into their environment. In contrast, only 13% of respondents expressed a negative attitude towards this category of population.
These results are consistent with the data of previous years. For example, in September 2022, 90% of Ukrainians expressed understanding for those who had moved abroad. Experts note that, despite the decline in this figure by several percent, the situation remains stable.
The survey shows that Ukrainians are committed to maintaining unity even in difficult times. The majority of citizens demonstrate their readiness to facilitate the return of refugees and restore social ties.
According to sociologists, the survey results underline the resilience of Ukrainian society in the face of the challenges of war and confirm its openness and solidarity.
