The Myslovo Dictionary of Modern Ukrainian Language and Slang chose the neologism ‘busification’ as the word of the year 2024. This term, which describes forced mobilisation under an accelerated procedure, became a central topic of public attention throughout the year.
‘Busification’ refers to the problems of mobilisation, where quantity prevails over quality and human rights are often ignored. The word is derived from ‘bus’ (minibus) and ‘-ification’ (from Latin facio – doing), resembling the terms ‘Russification’ or ‘verification’ in its structure.

These words reflect various aspects of public life, military events, cultural trends, and social challenges that Ukraine faced in 2024. ‘Busification’ has become a symbol of the complex processes that accompanied the country in wartime and has resonated in the public space.
