Since the beginning of the year, pyrotechnicians have surveyed over 309,000 hectares of land. Of these, more than 280,000 hectares have already been handed over to farmers for use. Significant progress has been made in the Kherson region, where deminers carried out a large portion of the demining work on liberated lands.
Yulia Svyrydenko: remarkable work by deminers on the liberated lands of Kherson region
As noted by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, deminers have crossed an important milestone of 300,000 hectares of surveyed land. The majority of the work was done in the Kherson region. Since the beginning of the year, more than 250,000 hectares have been surveyed in the region, of which nearly 245,000 hectares are now ready for use by farmers.
Data on surveyed lands for November and year-to-date
- Kherson region: 20.7 thousand hectares in November, 251.1 thousand hectares since the beginning of the year.
- Mykolaiv region: 4.4 thousand hectares in November, 20.9 thousand hectares since the beginning of the year.
- Kharkiv region: 1 thousand hectares in November, 22.5 thousand hectares since the beginning of the year.
This process is crucial for restoring Ukraine’s agricultural sector, as a significant portion of agricultural land was contaminated with mines due to the ongoing conflict. According to Svyrydenko, deminers have done an extraordinary job, allowing farmers to gradually return to their work on previously dangerous territories.
The priority land demining program continues to operate, contributing to the recovery of agricultural production and helping Ukraine return to normalcy after the war.
