Where to get help for a person with a disability: a list of state rehabilitation centres

Rehabilitation can be different: medical, physical, psychological, social or vocational. On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Ministry of Social Policy told about state institutions that help people with disabilities to regain strength, confidence, and move towards an active life free of charge.

Prolisok Rehabilitation Centre (Kyiv)

This centre offers assistance to children with disabilities through art therapy, special rehabilitation programmes, consultations with psychologists, speech therapists and classes using modern equipment. Physical therapy, exercise equipment, a salt room and other services are also available. Every year, the centre helps about 300 children, receiving young patients from all over Ukraine.

The Promin Centre (Kyiv)

The centre provides modern rehabilitation methods for children under 18. It uses robotic mechanotherapy to restore mobility, therapy to improve vision, hydrokinesis therapy, art and music therapy. All sessions are tailored to the individual needs of the child, which helps to achieve tangible results. The centre receives thousands of children every year.

Mriya Centre (Mykolaiv)

This centre helps children from an early age to adapt to life, develop and integrate into society. It provides psychological, physical, educational and sports rehabilitation services. The centre is also a training base for rehabilitation specialists from all over Ukraine, helping them to improve their skills.

Galicia Centre (Lviv)

Specialises in the rehabilitation of people with disabilities, including wounded military personnel. It has modern rehabilitation halls, prosthetic laboratories, and rooms for psychological and social rehabilitation. The centre actively cooperates with international partners to improve its services.

Donbas-Prykarpattia Centre (Ivano-Frankivsk)

This centre was relocated from Kramatorsk to Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast due to the war. It offers physical, social and psychological rehabilitation services. The centre has modern equipment and accepts patients from all over Ukraine, providing them with accommodation and meals.

Podillya Centre (Vinnytsia)

The centre specialises in the rehabilitation of people with visual impairments and teaches them how to use wheelchairs. It employs multidisciplinary teams to help patients develop self-care skills, strengthen muscles and adapt to a new lifestyle.

All-Ukrainian Centre for Comprehensive Rehabilitation (Lutizh)

The centre offers a wide range of services, including physical rehabilitation, occupational therapy, kinesiotherapy and training on modern exercise equipment. The institution annually helps hundreds of people with disabilities, including veterans and internally displaced persons.

How to get rehabilitation?

To undergo rehabilitation, you need to:

  • Read the list of centres and choose the right one.
  • Contact the centre and send copies of documents (IPR and doctors’ report).
  • Submit an application to the local social security department, which will send the documents to the centre.

State rehabilitation centres do their best to help people with disabilities get quality support and a chance for a new, active life.
