Digital tools for veterans
The Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine has developed a new online application that can be filled out by war veterans, demobilized individuals, and other eligible persons seeking support. This allows them to quickly reach out for assistance while reducing bureaucratic procedures. An electronic cabinet for specialists has been created to process submitted applications and provide necessary support measures. Currently, there are 559 specialists working across the country, with plans to increase this number next year.
Submitting an application via e-Veteran
Thanks to this digital initiative, veterans and other individuals can submit applications for social services more quickly and conveniently. The system enables applicants to directly interact with specialists who provide consultations, assist with obtaining statuses, benefits, medical services, employment, and rehabilitation.
Key categories of people who can submit an application:
- War veterans;
- Demobilized individuals;
- Family members of deceased war veterans and defenders of Ukraine;
- Participants in the Revolution of Dignity and their families;
- Individuals with special merits before the state;
- Family members of persons missing under special circumstances during military service.
Collaboration with UNDP and the government
The development of this digital service was made possible through collaboration between the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), funded by Sweden. As part of this partnership, six electronic services for veterans have been created, optimizing their interaction with government agencies.
Plans for further development
Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Natalia Kalmykova emphasized that the Ministry is gradually digitalizing services for veterans at all levels, from national to local. The platform’s functionality is set to expand next year, including the addition of an English language option and the development of a mobile app.
The launch of the service on the e-Veteran platform marks an important step in supporting war veterans and demobilized individuals. It not only facilitates access to essential social services but also enhances communication between the government and those who have served their country. The digital tools introduced through this project are helping veterans adapt to civilian life more quickly, providing them with the support and services they need.
