As of May 1, 2025, Ukraine will introduce new traffic light designs. This was announced in an order issued by the Ukrainian Scientific and Research and Training Center for Standardization, Certification and Quality. According to the order, the following changes are planned:
- Arrows on traffic signal lenses will be chevron-shaped (illuminated with a color that stands out against the background);
- The color of the green signal will be more saturated;
- For bicycle lanes, traffic lights with a bicycle pictogram on the right side of the road will be installed;
- Shared pedestrian and bicycle traffic lights will be created;
- Countdown timers will be installed on pedestrian, vehicular, and bicycle traffic lights.
According to Oleksiy Biloshitskyi, Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department, the changes are designed in accordance with European standards.
