Support for families with children
UNICEF continues to assist families with children living within a 30-kilometer zone from the frontline in seven Ukrainian regions. These families are receiving financial support of 21,800 UAH to prepare for winter. Over 103,000 people, including more than 44,000 children, have already received these payments, and this number is expected to grow in the near future.
Assistance with household fuel
UNICEF is also providing assistance to families in the form of household fuel. Nearly 5,000 families have already received the necessary fuel to heat their homes during the winter period.
Assistance for families in evacuation
For families with children who have had to evacuate from communities in Sumy and Kharkiv regions, where mandatory evacuation has been declared, UNICEF continues to provide one-time aid of 10,800 UAH. These payments help families adjust to their new living conditions after evacuation.
Support for schools in frontline areas
UNICEF is also increasing its support for schools in frontline areas. The number of educational institutions that will receive financial grants for the modernization of kitchens and winter preparations will grow from 350 to 800. This will help ensure appropriate conditions for children’s education in the midst of war and cold.
Gratitude for support
Iryna Vereshchuk thanked the Head of the UNICEF Ukraine Representative Office, Munir Mamadzade, for the ongoing support provided to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian families with children. She also called for further deepening of cooperation to ensure even more help for those in need during the war.
UNICEF continues its work, aimed at supporting vulnerable segments of Ukraine’s population, ensuring the necessary assistance in the most challenging times.
