The Ministries of Education of both countries are actively cooperating to ensure that Ukrainian children do not lose contact with their culture and language while abroad. Additional opportunities for learning the Ukrainian language and culture in Polish schools are planned. These may include individual classes and clubs, as well as entire Ukrainian schools that will be open on weekends. To implement these plans, funds will be raised from international donors and the support of the Polish government.

Starting in 2026, Ukrainian students will be able to take the Ukrainian as a foreign language exam along with other subjects at the final exam in a Polish school. Teachers working with Ukrainian children will receive additional training and financial support. Ukrainian parents will also receive more information on how to provide their children with education in Poland with a Ukrainian component.
Ukraine is also joining this cooperation. In particular, it will develop Ukrainian schools with Polish as the language of instruction, inform parents about the compulsory education of their children in schools, and comply with Polish law.
Through their joint efforts, Ukraine and Poland want Ukrainian children to preserve their national identity and have the opportunity to learn their native language and culture even while living abroad. The cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the educational sphere is an important step towards supporting Ukrainian children and preserving their cultural heritage.
