The Ministry of Communities and Territorial Development of Ukraine, together with the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine, has launched a series of regional workshops on developing tourism strategies for communities. This initiative, funded by the Government of Japan, aims to provide local authorities with the necessary knowledge and tools to create effective tourism development plans for their regions.
In July 2024, the Tourism Strategy Builder manual was presented, which contains detailed recommendations for developing strategies that take into account both economic, socio-cultural and environmental aspects of community development. The authors of the manual emphasise the important role of tourism in the process of rapid economic recovery, job creation and investment attraction.
The first workshop was held in Cherkasy, bringing together more than 30 participants. Similar events are planned for three more cities in Ukraine in the near future. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Tourism Strategy Builder and receive practical advice on how to use it to develop their own tourism development projects.
