What is resilience?

Resilience is the ability to endure trials and challenges while maintaining mental health and social connections. It’s not just about being unbreakable during a crisis but also about flexibility, the ability to act, care for oneself, and support others. In difficult situations, resilience allows us to adapt to changes, overcome obstacles, and maintain inner balance.

How to maintain resilience in stressful situations?

For many Ukrainians, important factors in stress resilience include having stable work or business, having children in the family, and receiving support from a partner. However, there are also other ways to increase resilience and adaptation during tough times:

1. Talking about your feelings

Don’t be afraid to share your feelings with loved ones. This helps reduce tension and feelings of isolation. Open discussions about emotions create support and contribute to emotional relief.

2. Sharing experiences

Sometimes, the experience of others can be very helpful in overcoming stress. Talking to people who have gone through similar challenges can help find new strategies for managing stress.

3. Working together

Collaborating with others creates a sense of unity and support, which helps reduce stress levels. When we work together, we feel less alone in difficult situations.

4. Hobbies and resources

Engaging in sports, traveling, or trying new hobbies can significantly help in managing stress. These activities not only broaden our horizons but also bring pleasure, which is important for emotional recovery.

5. Routine practices

Meditation, yoga, and other practices that help calm the mind can be powerful tools for maintaining resilience. Regular physical and mental exercises help reduce tension and maintain inner peace.

When to seek support?

If you feel that stress is becoming too overwhelming, don’t hesitate to seek help. Talk to someone, hug a loved one, or engage in an activity that brings you joy. Take care of yourself, stay physically active, and don’t be afraid to reach out for support when needed. Your mental health is a crucial resource for overcoming challenges and maintaining long-term resilience.

Maintaining resilience during difficult times is an important step toward emotional and physical balance. Being open about your feelings, actively communicating, leading a healthy lifestyle, and receiving support from those around you are the foundations for overcoming stress and preserving inner peace.
