Over 1,700 children missing in Ukraine due to war

As of now, over 1,700 children are considered missing in Ukraine as a result of the war. This data has been published in the Unified Register of Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Leonid Tymchenko.

Search for missing children

Specialized centers are operating across the country to search for missing children. These centers work under the Main Departments of the National Police in regional centers. Here, investigators and criminal police officers collaborate with authorized representatives on missing persons and, if necessary, with representatives from the Security Service of Ukraine.

Recommendations for citizens

Citizens searching for their missing relatives are advised to contact the nearest Main Department of the National Police or call the hotline at: 0 800 103 333.

Additional channels for providing information

Moreover, information about missing persons can also be reported to the National Information Bureau via the short number 1648 (for calls from abroad +38 (044) 287-81-65) and through the Viber chatbot. Other available methods of communication include:

  • Sending emails to: info@nib.gov.ua
  • Messaging the bureau’s Facebook page
  • Filling out an online form on the official website.

This initiative aims to ensure the swift and effective search for missing persons, particularly children who have fallen victim to the war.
