European banks to allocate €52 million for development of emergency services in Ukraine

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed a declaration of intent to provide grant funding to Ukraine for the development of the emergency response system. This was reported by the Government Portal.

Grant funding

To create a unified dispatch center system with a free emergency services number 112, which operates in EU member states, Ukraine will receive a grant of €12 million. The overall support for the project will include this grant along with an additional loan of €40 million.

Project goals

The main goal of the project is to integrate the services of emergency medical assistance, police, fire department, and emergency gas service into a unified emergency response system. This includes the establishment of modern call centers and IT infrastructure, helping to adapt these services to European standards.

EBRD investments in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the EBRD has invested about €5 billion in Ukraine, with a significant portion directed toward supporting the energy sector. As of October 2024, the total volume of financing exceeds €20 billion.

This project is an important step in developing emergency response infrastructure in Ukraine and brings the country closer to European standards in safety.
