In the first week of October, medical professionals recorded 114,487 cases of illness, with nearly 60% of hospitalized patients being children. During the second week, from October 7 to 13, there were 118,572 cases of ARVI, flu, and COVID-19, of which 73,396 were children under the age of 17.
Unfortunately, over these two weeks, 17 deaths were reported due to complications from COVID-19 among adults. It is important to note that the deceased did not have preventive vaccinations against the coronavirus infection.
Prevention and Vaccination
Health experts emphasize that the most effective prevention against COVID-19 and flu is annual vaccination, especially for at-risk groups. The flu vaccine does not protect against COVID-19 and vice versa, but vaccinations for both diseases can be administered on the same day or with a minimal interval.
COVID-19 vaccinations remain free for the population. Currently, medical professionals are using omicron-specific Comirnaty vaccines from Pfizer for both adults and children. Vaccinations can be obtained by contacting your family doctor.
During this epidemic season, it is crucial to take care of your health and the health of those around you by following the recommendations of medical professionals.
